For my next challenge I decided to attempt a full figure in 75mm scale. This painting by Delaroche of the death of Lady Jane Grey has always been a popular subject and so I chose to attempt the executioner from this scene. If this goes well I may well move on to attempt more of the figures.
Anyway this is my progress so far. Made mostly in Magic Sculpt with some additions in Tamiya Epoxy putty, and the axe made up from plastic.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I didn't mention earlier that I have flipped the painting around simply because I liked it better that way. So the Axe man is just about done and I have decided to include the other two main caracters in my little vignette.

Huw, Ron and Steve thanks for posting your thoughts, definitely keeps the mojo flowing.

The scene is moving along. I have about finished the base and most of Lady Jane. Still lots of clean up to do.

Wonderful sculpting,
It's brave to change a composition this much
but it will bring the reward of a tighter knit group.

Lovely work Paul.

The three figures are now just about finished less a little clean up, The priest figure is so closely connected to the lady that I am going to finish the painting at this stage before I add his hands.

I decided that very high contrast painting would be appropriate for this dramatic scene, so started on the executioner figure's trousers. Using Jo Sonja's.

Excellent work all the way round.I love the era that you chose to represent.I do admire people who take up such lengthy and complex projects and see them through like you are doing now. Can't wait to see it finished.Marion and Alan's was a marvellous piece of art.Your's is going to be too.

So the characters are now painted. I still need to add some hands when the figures are mounted.
Many thanks to Paul, Bob and Smudger and to everyone else looking in.
