I managed to pick this up at Folkestone yesterday from the bargain box on the Historex stand.

It's a rather nice Metal Modeles figure without any packet or painting instructions. It would be great if someone recognises it or has some colour information. The base is marked 'BRI. DRA.' which I'm guessing means it's a British Dragoon. The cut of the coat looks like early Napoleonic (I'd have said almost French) being rather baggy with long tails. The head has the Tarleton style helmet and he's carrying a sword on his shoulder which I presume means an officer.

Checking my references I can't find anything similar. I'd suggest a light dragoon from the 1790's given the helmet and coat - anyone know any better?

Cheers
Paul

ps - Also found this old Chota Sahib figure whilst rummaging on one of the traders stands which was half the marked price! Got to love a bargain :)

Hello,
This looks very much like one of the freebie Metal Modèles figures one got when taking a subscription to Figurines Magazine. If so it represents a Horse Artillery trooper of the Revolution period.

Hope this is any help,

Blimey that was quick Piet

Many thanks you've certainly nailed the figure and that would explain the bubble wrap packaging too. (A nicely painted figure for reference too, what more could I ask for) :D

Thanks for the help

You're welcome! Info on the Artillerie à Cheval shouldn't be too hard to find, the Napoleonic guys on the forum can certainly help. BTW the figure was/is available from Histoire & Collections for 18€.
Cheers,
Piet

Keep the heed  put the body in the spares box and do the mounted one as a conversion ,:D on the bottom pic

:p:p Tempting Ron, I'll admit that I really like the feel of MM figures so I bought it with a similar intention - even if I didn't find out the uniform colours I could use it to convert into something . . . well for a tenner it would have been rude not to buy it ;)

Many thanks for the references Jai. Lots to study there. (I wonder why the BRI. notation on the base - clearly a French chap)

Hi Bob - better born lucky than rich eh? :D
