Dear Planeteers,

my current project is the War Drummer by Medieval Forge Miniatures. This bust is lovely and full of details, but no simple project for sure. As all figures from this brand, the casting is crisp and the fitting great. It's just a complex figure and a challenge for both the painter and the modeler.
I assume the project will take a few more weeks to complete. Maybe a good reason to start another WiP? Hope you enjoy watching the War Drummer coming to life. Next step will be painting his leather jacket and the rest of his torso.

Greetings from Berlin

Well Sven your are on your way to producing another beautiful piece of work and I look forward to following the WIP, the bust is one that caught my eye when it first appeared and its great to see completed versions appearing on the forums, Medieval Forge have lots of very tempting releases and it good to get your feedback as you proceed through the prep onto the painting.

Hi Phil,
of course, he has arms and an impressive drum. Honestly, the prospect of painting this drum and attaching it to the figure keeps me awake at night . :(

Ah, that is nice. I especially like the impressive wheel-lock pistol in his belt. MFM do some really good stuff. I'm on this thread for sure!

Great start Sven. I will be following closely as this one is sitting on my shelf, a Christmas present from my good wife. You are right about the drum too. It will give me nightmares as well when the time comes.

Dear Planeteers,

here is part two of the War Drummer WiP. I painted most leather parts. The details of the bust are amazing. My favourite is the little fork on his chest.

Next step will be his arms, pistol, and field bottle.

Happy painting!

Looking absolutely fantastic Sven. Great leather work and I like the color of his shirt as well. Just what color is the shirt? Looks to be pink or a very faded vermillion in the photos.

That is very impressive painting Sven. The only thing I can't see on the model is the spanner for his wheel-lock - the key that winds the tension into the wheel. Maybe it's there but not easily spotted. The pistol would just be an ornate club without it.
