Hi Guys

I have decided to show you a little scratch build I have been doing fro a Group Build on another forum, it is WW1 Flight related, Its a little piece involving a ModelCellar Werner Voss and as the title says a 1914 German Wander Motorcycle that Voss used to ride. What is in the images below is the result of two solid days scratch building with a couple of days more of detailing to do before painting.

Dave, absolutely amazing and looking forward to seeing it painted. You didn't by any chance do a SBS of the bike build you could post.

Cheers Ken

Hi Carl - Plasticard, rod, a little lead sheet, and 1 piece of fuze wire - so far......

Ken - Sorry, trying to get it done in time for a GB, so didn’t really take many pics to be honest

Thanks Guys

Carl, I see you put up an image thanks for that, its good to see lots of images coming out, but the one in your image is a later Wanderer, in your picture the frame splits and goes around the outside of the engine this was changed to this set up around 1915. On Werners bike you can see the V twin sits in a single tube that goes under the engine. But saying its wrong is not right either, they had a habit of carrying things over to newer models apart from the frame, if you think about it these early bikes were under just as much development as the planes he flew.

Just kidding mate this is a real nice piece of scratchbuilding which goes with an equaly great figure, i like the idea behind this one and the fact it is very original, look forward to seeing it painted.

OhMa'Gosh . . what a creative piece.

Re the Voss photograph, I have seen it a number of times, but never in all
my imaginative moments have I thought that some very talented artist
would come forward with a concept like what you are doing, Dave.

This is just fantastic. What a clever and creative idea. . . Ah, to be so
talented. I sincerely hope you derive much pleasure from it.

Dave,

Awesome project! I really like the idea and I am sure that Voss will look great with your bike.

One thing that troubles my eye though, why only half a bike? Sure doing two matching wheels would be a pain, but it looks a little strange with the bike cut off and hanging in the air as it does.

Even at that, it is an impressive piece of modeling. Where's Wencho when we need him? Yo Alex, let's see some of your scooters for inspiration!

Thanks very much guys, its been a challenge to get this far, some appreciation has to go to Mike for sculpting such a great piece, such a natural pose, and to Paul at ModelCellar for producing it, along with the Billy Bishop they are the two best WW1 54mm figures around.

Mike, I can understand your reservations on the bike being cut short, but at the end of the day it was only made to have something behind the figure once I had painted it...... thanks again for sculpting a great figure
