Acrylics Chasseur Aurore

Anybody have a mix or colour match for this colour? It seems to be all sorts of versions from orange to yellow

He has posted Lucien Rousselot's original colour swatch for Napoleonic uniforms including aurore. This was published in Pigeard's ltd edn 2 volume encyclopedia of Napoleonic uniforms. Great books! A good resource ot save.

My standard way to mix this would start with a yellow earth, adding a little red plus a touch of white perhaps.

For Chasseur Aurore, I used the following mix of Vallejo Model Colours:

Base- 953 Matt Yellow + 814 Burnt Cadmium Red
Highlight- Base + 953 + 858 Ice yellow
Shade- Base + 814


It only takes a touch of Burnt Cad Red in the base or it becomes too dark.

look at this picture... I take it some months ago in PAris at the army museum... you can see some "aurora" tissue related to the subject you're painting.

I painted the aurora colour using a mix of red, yellow and some white to obtain a pale orange, dark was done adding violet. Changing the quantities of each colour you can obtain the different tones of aurora

I love this 'Aurore" color , i've painted a saintonge grenadier with Aurore facings , after trying few mixes i stayed with :
Vallejo deep yellow and added a dab of Andrea basic red ,for lights i added more yellow and for shadows added more red, simple but i tihink it works.

Sorry guys...Is Aurore the colour of the sabretache? So it ranges from a dark yellow to pale orange? And what colour would the edging of the shabraque be considered? Now I know why Nappy colours give people headaches

I thought the color of the shabraque edges wore gold hmm

The edge of the sabretache is "gold" the edge of the shabraque (saddlecloth) I believe is called Primrose. Aurore is a dark yellow

Best definition of "Aurore" is that is not yellow but is not orange

We could consider all the three shades in the picture as AURORA. No one of them is gold.
Aurora is a very difficult colour to fix.

Look at the eagle and look at the lace of the saddle ... They have ( teorically) to be the same except that probably come from 2 different supplier ...

AURORA is not difficult see a color chart, it's exactly like the colour you see on the shabraque here above

go to this adress write on google couleur aurore wiki and just open teinte jaune and teinte orange
