Harold Godwinson was the Cousin of William of Normandie, and swore an oath to grant the Crown and Kingship to William his French Cousin when his father the King Edward, passed away.
But Harold instead decided to steal the crown, usurped the throne, and have himself crowned in England as King and heir, which he was not. William was furious and launched an army to Invade all England in 1066.
The ever luckless Harold with his house karls, was at the same time attacked and invaded by a force of Norsemen or Vikings, where a large incursion had began in the North.
Harolds army marched all the way up there, and defeated the Vikings at Stamford bridge.
But next they must march all the way back to lower England, where William of Normandie has now landed virtualy unopposed......
