120mm Maurice Corry - German Panzer Grenadier
Again, some of the same issues with the paratrooper (glossy clothes, eyes)
1. The uniform colors look good. The darker green here on his sleeves is closer to what the paratrooper needs (with a touch more gray, and this green as a drybrush)
2. The pouches look good. The color seems right, and there doesn't appear to be any sheen to the fabric. I would clean up the brown of the leather straps, then wash with a darker green, or brown (if you want to simulate dust/dirt), then drybrush with the green you have here.
3. The main uniform I would do an overall wash with a darker brown (or try the 'dot filter' method) to tone down the bright green and make it a bit 'dirty' . Then drybrush with the green that's on the bags.
4. The belt and buckle -- The belt (when new) is a deep brown leather, and the buckle was a dark flat steel gray with a shotblasted (zero sheen) appearance. Over time the edges and the eagle/swastika/leaves on the face would get worn and pick up a bit of a polish, and the base metal might darken slightly, but that's all.
5. Sleeve stripes -- I always use to fight with stripes on aircraft ordinance trying to freehand them. An expert I'm not, but I think those white stripes are 12mm. Based on that, I'd cheat, paint that whole section white, mask off the edges with 1/32 tape, paint the black, seal it, paint the green and badaboombadabing ya got got black and white stripes! Tamiya makes some great masking tape in 1/8, 1/32 and 1/64. That tape is actually thin enough that you could paint it white and use it for the stripes. Hmmm, that gives me an idea.....

I hope you don't take any of this as getting 'beaten up'. On anything I do I always appreciate another pair of eyes too. Sometimes I get helpful hints, sometimes I just get criticism, but in all I learn something, or at least try to. I am truly in awe of the talent I see on this and many other modeling boards, and part of that is just having the chutzpah to build, paint and put it out there. There are times when I think I'll never get that good, but everyone started out as a novice. Some have this innate talent that has allowed them to advance in leaps and bounds, while others have to take 'baby steps' and learn in bits and pieces. I don't think I'll live long enough to gain the talent that some have, but if I keep banging away I know I'll get better than I am today.
