Here are the tools Nap. Music wire embedded in old brush handles.

    Trying my hand at 1/72

Thanks guys. Nap, I'll try to get some good photos of the tools, the tips are pretty small, not sure how they'll photograph. So far I like the Beesputty. I bought it last year, but didn't try it until now. I needed to condition it, but it's nice and waxy so it doesn't stick to tools. I...

    Trying my hand at 1/72

Been away from the bench for a long spell, jumping back in with a new (to me) clay and subject. This is a 1/72 U boat crewman. He'll be in oil skins getting hammered by wave. Just roughing out the face at this point. I had to make a new set of tools out of music wire. Using Beesputty...

polar lights hunchback of notre dam

Aurora made all the Universal Monster molds in the 60s, including the Hunchback/Bellringer. They went corporate in the 70s and folded, leaving all those molds out there. Revell and Monogram both used the molds at different times in different capacity, glow in the dark, Luminators, etc, but I...

If you're doing a film oriented figure...

Hey Derek, I'm sure there are a bunch of different ones, but this is the one I used. http://www.inkpresspaper.com/profiles.asp?PaperID=1 I found it local in NY, but it's probably available everywhere. I think it was around $10 for 5 sheets shipped. With proper layout, just printing on the...

If you're doing a film oriented figure...

I found this great printer paper that is transparency film. It's a white plastic sheet that lets light through. Amazing stuff. I downloaded a copy of the original 'Bride Of..' one sheet, shrunk it to an inch across and printed it on the film. This was all done on a cheap HP inkjet. Cut a piece...

Completed CGS, Young Guard 1815, Bust

Time to get out the purples and greens and give him a proper shiner. :)

Completed CGS, Young Guard 1815, Bust

Excellent work. I agree regarding the cheeks, looks like serious swelling. The weathering really adds here since the dirty elbow looks recent, it sort of creates a narrative as if he just recovered his footing.

    1/16 Tank commander.

Thanks Nap. Yeah, I think I'll add a bit of cupola, binoculars, some lapel insignia and off it as a bust. That way I can incorporate the hands a bit more with the cupola, as is it needs to fit a variety of models, so it has to be generic. I'll never understand the RC tank group, even though...

    1/16 Tank commander.

These are the first test cast. I like to run a few towards the end of the sculpt so I can make sure I have the gates, etc in the right place and make sure I didn't miss a rough spot or two. These are for the RC tanks market where too much detail is just waste, but for myself I'll turn them...

    Interest in 1/16 busts?

Thanks Richie, I'm pouring a fresh mold after the first short run. I don't know what the industry standard is, but I run Platinum cure and don't use release to preserve fine detail, so I like to change out the molds often. When I'm back up to a good stock number, I'll post in the marketplace.

    Interest in 1/16 busts?

Hey Pete, Thanks for your input and kind words. I in no way offended or disappointed with your opinion, it's exactly what I need/want. I'm not knowledgeable in the figure market and didn't even know there was a version of these, regardless of how they compare. With technology exploding...

    Interest in 1/16 busts?

I'm open to any suggestions too, regarding scale, subject or anything. My reference library skews heavily towards WWII (which is overdone IMO), so I'm willing to look at anything out there.

    Interest in 1/16 busts?

Thanks Gents, that solves it. Nap, I'm the sculptor. They were done on request for the RC tank market. In general, the figures available for them are really hideous, more akin to a child's action figure. Since these were a likeness, I put a little more work than that market necessitates. They...
