I'd say the bigger problem seems to be the right hand. Might be the angle of the pictures but it seems to be sitting with the palm on top of the handle (tsuka) of the katana. If this bust is intended to show him preparing to draw the sword, then the right hand should approach the tsuka from...

sorry, but i wouldn't buy this figure at all. The horse's legs look like it is rearing on its hind legs rather than galloping. Weight, if on the back legs, should be primarily on one leg more than the other to capture the weight transition back to the front legs. Also, shooting from a saddle...

I love the leather, always did worn leather using oils dragged over an acrylic base before but this seems to give more control over the end result.

stunning, the handling of the flesh and the red tunic is flawless. I much prefer this style of painting to the heavily contrasted busts which almost convert 3D back to 2D representations. Out of interest what did you use to shade and highlight the gold braiding?

Hi Chris, I spent many a happy hour in that shop scouring for rare kits. I still have some of the kits Tony and Comet produced like their Robby the Robot and one of their Dalek kits (a bit smaller than the Sevans ones but far easier to build). Although the shop is gone Tony is still trading...

Sevans did some fantastic kits of UK Sci Fi subjects. Here's their Kryten from Red Dwarf. This was originally released in Vinyl but I managed to find one of the few versions they issued in full resin. The instructions for Kryten are hilarious. I'll post them up if I can dig them out.

Thanks Brad. Sevans stuff does show up on Ebay from time to time but they are not cheap. Their old Dalek kits were highly detailed but by all accounts well nigh on impossible to build. I looked at the old Imai Captain Scarlet figures and the Sevans ones are in a completely different league in...
