Gary, I do not think your comments are unfair. Mind you, I've never posted anything for comment, (one day I will and if you do not make any comment I will give up :o ) but I am sure that I would welcome anything from a master like you. In your posts you have show your knowledge and observational...
Guy, you have answered a question about acrylics as primer I have wondered about for a while. To be on the safe-side I prime with enamel paint, matt with alittle gloss varnish added to give a smoother base, but still with some 'tooth'.
Am I on the right track?
Wish he lived a bit closer to New Zealand!
I'm in the same fix; lots of well-read references collectetd over 35+ years. I wish your mate all the best luck in the world.
Now... Do I know any-one with book-repair as a hobby....
Don't know if this will help, but for piping I paint the piping colour roughly, then paint the other colour(s) either side of the original colour. It's not so hard on the eyes and you don't need a fiddly little brush.
As for patches, I gloss varnish the area to be painted and let it dry...
Gidday. Thanks for the welcome.
Like you, Kenneth, I'm building from scratch now. Not very well, but with practice and the Planet, I'm getting better at it. :)
Hi Jan. I'm a new guy on the Planet too. Although I've been modelling for over 35 years, I have learned more in the last few months from the people here than in 35 years. Great site, very friendly.
To everyone, Hi from New Zealand.
