Mike, Great SBS. I was curious in your prep work for a figure. After the topic is chosen and reference material researched do you make a rough or very detailed sketch of the figure? Or, just go with your minds eye so to speak and start sculpting? Thanks Sean

I am working on the Quintus Sertorius bust by El Viejo and wanted to see what everyone thought about catch-light in the eyes. I have seen it on some and not others busts. Think I should put them in? Also, do you use pure white or an off white? Thanks for all of your comments. Sean

Alan, I know this is not the correct forum for this, but if you dont mind (or in another forum), could you explain how you go about sculpting the hat to be hollow? It looks like you are using a couple of different mediums there. Thanks Sean

Thanks for your comments. Sorry Dave, I do not have an exact formula of the mix I used. I do use unbleached titanium white as my base and add whatever color I think will get me the color I am looking for (no science here, just go by eye). I used some of the many paintings of him to compare to...
