I present my version of Young Miniatures WW1 German Stormtrooper. I was going for the look like he was in the 1930 film version of 'All quiet on the Western Front'.
I used only Jo Sonja's black and white acrylics. The photos make it look like he has a hint of sepia and green mixed in but this is just from the lighting when taking photos in the light box. (Something I need to work on). The actual piece is purely in grey scale.
Hope you like him. He was a joy to paint.

A joy for you to paint and a joy for us to look at. Fantastic skill on display there mate. Superb.

Totally agree with BP

Painting grayscale is really difficult , mind you I like the effect the photography has given it ...nice textured work on the grenade bags

The face is particularly well done

Played around with a couple of pics for a Mono effect hope you don't mind ...certainly looks very 1930's

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

He looks great and the black and white treatment really gives this guy that look of hopelessness having endured the conditions of trench warfare, I always have to admire painters who go for painting a figure or bust with a certain effect in mind, I can only imagine the challenge of mixing the colours.
