Hello everyone,

It’s been a long time since my last post. This is my last work. It is a magnificent figure from Romeo Models. Theoretically it is 75 mm but I find closer to 90 mm. I have spent a lot of time with this figure, it took me 2 months to complete it!!:nailbiting: I don’t know but with the pass of time I’m getting slowlier and slowier!

The figure needs a lot of planning before assembling or painting, due to the cloack, shield, axe… It is painted with acrylics and I also used some enamels for weathering.

Hope you like it!

Ha! Lightweight!!!! :joyful:

I've had the exact same figure unfinished on my "Shelf of Shame" for almost 6 years!!:eek:

Excellent result though and beautiful presentation ..... for a "rush job" of course! :ROFLMAO:(y)

Great looking viking, all the different element have come together perfectly on this piece.
And I would say that was 2 months very well spent :).

Question: How did you find the fit of the lower arms into the quilted jacket's sleeves?

I've had great difficulty with that and kept ending up with a large gap no matter what I did, and this was the main reason that the project stalled. The constant frustration with that aspect of it killed my enthusiasm for it, and the only reason I haven't binned it completely is because I'm generally happy with my work on the rest of it.

I'd be interested to know if that's just down to my own incompetence, or whether it's a general issue with how the kit is engineered and cast.

Hi Steve!
I've had a similar situation with this figure than you. I had it for several years inside the box without starting. Everytime that I was going to start the assembling was so difficult that I left it again on the shelve frustrated.
In my case I didn't have a lot of problems with the arms. With some cleaning they fitted correctly. But the cloak was a nightmare!! It didn't fit at all to the point that I thought that my figure was defective! Then I realised that some junctions on the back were not well molded and had too much lead. With some knife work, some putty and some metal pins to stand its weight finally I managed to make everything fit.
The head also gave me some headaches (LOL) with the fitting.
Anyway, in my opinion this is the best viking figure around (with the permisión of Mr. Laruccia's viking for Soldiers).

Fernando

Hi Fernando, I don't recall having any major problems with the cloak, but I agree that the head isn't the best fit either.

I think it took me three attempts (and a lot of swearing) before I was satisfied with the fit. I also don't think that the head/face on this one are particularly well cast, I found the detail to be a little soft (at least on mine).

In any case despite the problems, you've achieved a lovely result on yours, and as you say it does paint up into a very nice figure. I might just have to see if I can finally get mine over the finish line next!
