Looks good Jay.
Good you take some picture's with some other background. I believe that the colors in the background haven't done the colors on your figure justice. You should try white or grey.

Like how under nourished the figure looks, compared to the size of the helmet and plate armour....after a long time in the trenches, someone shouldn't look well fed!

I agree with Marc, the red cloth & blue back ground throw off the colours on your figure, skewing perception. (The camera is trying to compensate for Red & Blue, two colours very much in opposite ends of the spectrum)

Still, he looks like some one looking up for hope, from weariness, or some other emotion as he gets ready for some kind of assault.
