Gidday All,
Being really taken by the sculpting from Russia and alike I am working on a double bust taken from a photo from Vladimir Karpov,s book "Russia at War".This book tends to focus on the more human side of war,the humanity in time of suffering.
A librerated village in the east welcomes Soviet tankers with the offering of "breaking bread",which is an age old tradition.
there is much to do .Comments welcome.

Interesting concept Andy, and a nice change of pace. A scene like this would have been repeated thousands of times all over Europe as the "liberators" arrived to replace the Nazis.

Great start.
And Good idea.
I'm looking forward to completion of your work.

Gidday All,

Great sculpt Andy, it looks to be a very nice and unique scene once you have finished, very keen to see this unfold - spot on facial and clothing.

Thanks for posting RobH.;)

Ken & Rob,
Thanks for the comments.Im wondering if the scene is just as effective with the one bust only recieving the bread .I will still carry on with the other bust though.
Cheers

You always seem to amaze me Andy with the ideas you come up with for sculpts mate, really good stuff and you have a very good imagination and eye for a good scene.

This is looking very good so far and i love the facial expression of the tanker.

All the best mate

Steve

Steve,
Thanks for your comments.I appreciate them very much.Lately I,ve been trying to tell a story with busts which is not so easy.Pouring through books and magazines for ages until the images pops out in front of you.
Its getting to stage wheres its ok to try something different and have a go.The only person who will stop you is yourself.

Roger & Pedro,
Thanks very much for the comments. Its a matter of chasing up details now that most of the sculpting is done. There is yet to add the embroidered cloth (Rushnyk)on which the bread sits.It will be fun painting this as there are some quite intricate designs on them not to mention the front of the Elders shirt.
Cheers
Andy
