Gary, great work, Not the easiest subject to sculpt, big head - small body, however you've captured the youthful look perfectly.

The "Slow boat to China" continues to inch it's way forward. The sling for the drum is almost complete except where it attaches to the drum. The downside with slings, straps etc is that they tends to cover detail areas. There was no way to do this without covering a good portion of the X Legion emblem on the chest. Fortunately some of it is still visible. Now on with the arms.

Been lurking in PF for years and really like following your sculpting work. Thanks for posting the WIP's. Curious - is that solder lining the figure's pockets, collar, kepi, etc. ?

Yes. I used it for the piping on the jacket.

I decided to use putty for the arms. A "tube" was built up around the armature. After this cure I carved this shape down and filed or carved the folds. The lacket in the period image looks a little bulky in places and I tried to suggest this.
