Attracting attention is part of the plan. . .

Hello David:

My personal view is that with painting figures and the presentation of same,
that one of the major components in this exercise is to draw in the eye of
the viewer, . . . or expressed more clearly, to attract their attention.

For me, or in my opinion, one of the best ways to do this is thru the use of
colour. And I feel you have grasped this concept with both hands. It's the
color of his Garment, the use of blue in that striking hue and shade that
really sets this off. Yes, the facial tones are so wonderful and so subtle.
Obviously, you are a skilled artist with a lot of experience. But your colour
selection is first rate, IMHO, and that is what really drew me to this
beautifully sculpted bust. Congrats,

Thanks guys for all your wonderful comments, this has been a very enjoyable project.Hi Dave the reason for the slit was a flaw that I missed on clean up. To get the texture on the jacket, I first painted it in a slightly darker shade of the final colour then misted on some Skull white primer, after that it was shaded and a couple of washes added to tie it all together.

Cheers David

David, very eye-pleasant colour scheme on the clothes. Fantastic work on the white shirt, my friend. Realy outstanding shading of white there. All together shines out as one briliant piece. Looking forward for the hat and the feathers:)
kind regards,
R.L.

Hello, David.
Superb work as usual.
I think the feel of a material of the face and the feel of a material of the clothes are very wonderful.
I think it builds into very excellent art.

Gentlemen, last night I had the good fortune to see Davies figure now almost completed. Whow it will just blow you away. It is superb, with the face as you have seen, lots of work done on the shirt and tunic and the hat is a work of art on its own.
Until Brian (Supersnad) introduced me to some of his work, I was never a great admirer of of busts but this one wins the prize.
Cant say enough to describe this, think you will like it. I love it!!!

Don

Thanks Matt , here are the photos of the finished bust.

Cheers David
