Hi all,

I want to know in advance before posting the pics, as this is after all a very specific forum, and I hope not to ruin the mood by posting potentially unrelated images.

I have had the pleasure of meeting the god-like Optimus Prime in its full glory. I took pictures from as many angles as I could, from ground floor, first floor and second floor.

You can argue either way whether this is figure painting... And please let me know if you are interested.

Thanks!
Michael

I'm not sure what this optimus prime is besides the one that was on transformers. It sounds like a 2 story tall figure? I could stand finding out what it is.

I was at a loss to Mike, the wonder of Google.

Michael, I do not mean to be rude, but I am a historian first and a painter second. All of this non-historical stuff gives me the willies (ya listening Rusty Nail?). I am sure your motives are kind. And if enough people want to see it, I can simply not look.--

Hi Steve,

Don't worry about it. Not enough people are interested anyway.
Look, I am offended by the stupidity of Transformers movies too. In fact I was more offended by them than anyone in my age group I ever know (early 20s). I just thought it might be a healthy distraction from our usual scales. Guess I was wrong...

By the way, I am bound by reality an Economics student. In a parallel universe, I am a wanna-be writer, painter, film director. In both worlds, I am no historian.

Michael

Michael,
thanks for coming along to the planet......

a 1:1 figure of Optimus, while impressive, probably doesn't appeal to the vast majority of the members here......

There is some interest, just in other forums. (such as Kitmaker Networks Model Geek, to name one)

I applaud your considerate approach to posting, that kind of manners and respect for others should be encouraged.

And while the movies may stir some debate, and while the transformer characters are digital, I have to admit a degree a admiration for digital artists who can create such effects. Textures, light and shadow, transparency, the elusive 'character' and then make it move around on the screen, it may not be physically comparable to what we do, there is an equal amount of creativity in there.

And lets face it, a 50 foot construction? Wow factor, indeed!

I'll happily accept a PM of them, if you wish.

Cheers

Jamie
