Completed Roman Centurion A.D. 100 (finished)

Hello, everyone.
I have completed a work at last.
(ROMAN CENTURION A.D.100 VERLINDEN 90mm)
I tried to reproduce a texture about this work.
But it has been the quite rough finish.
I used oil paints about painting of completion.
A ground work used VALLEJO - COLOR.

All comments welcome.

Hi Mitsutaka,

To be honest I don't think this is your best work. I've seen you do many, many figures over the last couple of years and for some reason this one doesn't reach the very high standards you've set for yourself. I think the face lets this figure down. It just doesn't seem as neat and clean as your usual faces. Having said that, there are still some positives. The leather work and the metallics are very good. I hope you don't mind me being critical, but it's better to be honest than hand out empty praise.

Mitsutaka i thinkthat Tony has some point in his critics.The painting on this specific figure doesnt seems as clean and precise as in your previous works .

The cape is missing the effect you have tried toachieve and the problem is that the re is not light / shadow degrade from up to down. Maybe there is still space for improvement if you feel like it. But you have done so many nice pieces, and i think that yoou can see the defects on thsi specific piece and repair them.

Hi Mitsutaka, in any artistic discipline ( and for my opinion painting figure is a sort of artistic complement ) is difficult to mantein always the same range, also because often we want to try something new , and this is great because we can improve our skill , me too i can't do better when i'm bored with a project that for me doesn't work for example and the result is worse than my expectations , also is important to show our works to other which can comment and for me nothing is better of Planet Figure to have good feedback and suggestions . The comments of Tony, Costas, Marc etc, in my opinion denote a truly friendship , they are honest with you, take care this , is very important. I also want to be honest with you and i have to say you did a beautiful job but not top notch as usual , for example you can do mutch better with the face knowing your high skill the metals and the leather are great, for the cape with the texture i echo Costas

I've read the other comments, and at the skill level that I am, I really don't
feel qualified to critique the painting. I know the photographs are really
wonderful. That last picture that shows the entire presentation w/ the base
of quality wood and that really classy name plate is very impressive.

Re your ground cover or terrain: It is just spectacular in my view. All the
shades and tones in the grasses, the rocks and the soil work so
wonderfully well with the figure and the entire presentation. Re my attempts
at ground cover just recently, ha ha, I think I am feeling just a
little bit like Kermit the Frog on Sesame Street. I'm kinda "Green"
with envy! It's not easy being Green. Hey isn't that an old song title?

I think there are a lot of people satisfied to do the same thing, too, but it's the policy I'm asking for something new in case of me.
When the result seems to make many readers be disappointed, TRY is thinking it isn't successful.
I think it's my problem to make TRY where a reader is satisfied succeed.
I'd like to paint more eagerly.

Yes, I am a KISS fan! It Seems like a lot of people were fans in their childhood and teens. There's a lot of us that kinda just hung around to see where they would go next with this image and sound. 35 years later they're still release albums! I know many people that were fans in grade school and high school, but then grew out of the interest, then years later after hearing something new, like Sonic Boom, or Psycho Circus they might check out a concert and Walla! Your a reguvinated KISS fan again! You never know. You wanna hear a great all time album? Check out 1975's KISS ALIVE! Crank the volume to 10 and I swear you'll feel like you're at a KISS concert!
The 2nd picture below was taken in the back of a place called the Coventry in I think Queens, NY back in late 1973. I think this was the first night they did the makeup and a short time later refined it to what everyone knows them as today. The 1st picture is taken later in 1975. Notice the quick refining of their image. From this point on, with the image and the sound, there was no stopping them! Any way, I could go on and on and on... take care!
