I presume that the oils still have to dry and loose a bit of that sheen, but once that is over I think he is looking the part quite well.

Keep him wet Carl :D

Ray ;)

Carl i don't think he looks bad, maybe just some more highlites on the face. The body paint seems pretty good as it was usually either randomly rubbed on or had bleed from sweating. keep us posted.

Thanks for the excellent article Adrian, I've increased the highlights now. I'll post later.
Thanks again,
Carl.

Looking good Carl.
I think you've got a real challenge on yourhands here so well done you.
Once the oils dry I think the highlighting will be the real make or break, no hiding place on black skin at this scale.
Cheers
Derek

Hi Carl,

I think the skin tones look spot on. Obviously the skin is a bit too glossy at this stage, but Iknow you'll sort that out. The hair and beard will also have white paint in them, so don't forget that the paint is applied by hand, so it will be applied in smears and using fingers.

Thanks for the comments. Tony I was hoping to depict him as a tribal elder, with a greying beard and hair.
Hopefully the oils will lose some of their sheen,
Carl.

Carl you never seem to amaze me with your diverse range of figure mate, this one caught my attention straight away as currently i am reading the book `Wisdom Man- Banjo Clarke` which tells the story of an aboriginal man and his life.

I like the deep colour you have chosen for the skin tone, i think maybe you could push the highlights more as they will lessen once the oils dry, bit more on the eyebrows, nose ridge and tip and top of cheeks. Looks like its going to be a very nice piece once done mate.

Added more highlights and red to the cheeks, after looking at Adrian's post.(y)
Still have to add the suspension cords, for the bag thingy around his neck.
Carl.
