Finished off this 1/10 bust from Young Miniatures today. Russell Crowe as Jack Aubrey from the film Master and Commander. Thanks to those who helped with comments along the way you helped me push the contrast in the skin tones.
Feel free to comment or criticize good and bad, I need to learn more from you guys.

Thanks,
Andrew.

Looks superb Andrew. You obviously have a keen eye for colour and a steady hand for painting. The skin tones look superb.
I know camera pictures can be far from the actual colour and tones but from the pics I would do more lights and shadows contrasts in the clothing. Also the braiding looks great but the shoulderboards look a little flat i.e. one colour. A wash of a darker colour in the recesses would give them a bit depth and a drybrush of a lighter colour to highlight.
On the whole he looks great, especially the most difficult part which is the face which I have to say is nailed brilliantly.

I love your skin tones, esspecially the ruddy cheeks. The eyes are also well done. The only thing I believe would make this a standout would be a bit of weathering on his hat, it just looks a bit too new.
You are coming along in great leaps and bounds and it is great to see your progress.

Hi Andrew,

A terrific final result mate. I'm sure you'll get more confident developing your own style as you explore different levels of contrast. (y)

Just one observation; Royal Navy jackets of the type depicted in this bust are very, very dark blue, almost black in colour. The blue colour you've chosen to use is far too light.;)

Thanks for all the encouragement and advice everyone. I have to admit once I finish skin tones on busts I paint I lose a lot of enthusiasm for the pieces, not sure why. It's something I need to work on because I feel the clothing I paint often drags my pieces down a bit.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment.
