I'm having a bit of a drama painting the shirt on this, it just doesn't look right. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
I've thrown one in of the shield, because I'm like that.;)
Cheers,
Carl.

Can't see a lot wrong with it from the photo. The colour seems to fit the period. Maybe one or two of the shadows look at bit harsh and not blended on their lower borders. You could increase the highlight intensity on the upper parts of the figure, with more white into the base colour for an aged look or with orange[ or a brighter red] for a richer look.

Thanks Mary, nice to get a female opinion of the wardrobe.;)
David, many thanks, I'll have a go with your suggestions.(y)
Carl.:)

You wrote that you like the red on the shield.
The picture of the shield let us see a part of the sleeve.
If you compare the reds they looks almost the same.

Marc

Carl that's a great red shade. As David says maybe just a little work on the transitions but don't lose the depth of shadow. Just a couple of controlled washes away from perfect.
Cheers

That's because he was wearing that shirt when he painted the shield.;)
Thanks for taking the time to comment folks,
Carl.

I think it looks rather well Carl.
Comments on extra highlighting and blending have been made, so why not suggest some extreme shadow outlining under the belt and darkest folds of his left arm? :)
Already a nice shade of red as it is though.(y)

What brown did you use to make the dust/dirt stains on the shield? May want to copy that... ;)

Cheers,
Adrian

I did spend money Ron, but not at Historex.;)
I've deepened the shadowy bits now, and I think it looks better.
Cheers Rob,
Carl.

I did Ron, glad it's catching on.(y)
Well this is whats happened since you last called in. I've deepened the shadows, and increased the highs slightly. I put on the base because I was excited, there's still lots to do.
The photos are up to my usual exceptionally high standard,
Carl.(y)
