Hi all,
After having trouble getting inspired to paint I decided this afternoon to open up a figure I had been keeping till I thought I was good enough. It was a bust I first saw when I started painting and had to get. I have just about finished with the skin, but that's about all that is close to being finished at the moment, and after looking at the photos the shadows could be darkened I think. It's all in acrylics, feel free to critique I could use some tips on the clothing, it's never been my strong point.

Thanks for looking,
Andrew.

Andrew,

I think the skin tones look perfect as they are mate.

Far more natural looking than the high contrast style of painting.

Congrats for having the confidence to have a go at this classic bust

I love this bust. I am in the opposite corner concerning contrast but paint it the way you like. You have been trending towards less contrast so that is the style you like. It's good to see you back at it Andrew. I always enjoy your painting.

I agree with the other comments about the flesh tone, I think it looks very natural and I understand the temptation to darken the shadows but I think for a figure in this scale you have got the contrast correct. I think it it very easy to widen the contrast for the sake of it and restraint in this area is a skill in itself. Very good work so far.

Alex.

Thanks guys, glad you like it. I guess I'll leave the flesh as is (general consensus is it is ok as is).
I'll post pics of the figure when done.
Thanks again for the comments.

Andrew.
