Hello again to all.

I recently picked up this excellent model from a show, its in 54mm and only had Mounted Mongol Archer written in pen on box to go on.
I hope someone here can tell me who made it and if it really is a Mongol etc?
Having searched various manufacturers websites I have come up with nothing.

Thanks in advance Michael

Thanks for that Victor, I did not think it was a Mongolian but probably a Muslim/Turkish Archer.
It is a very nice piece, but I would like to know for definite before I start painting it, for colours etc.
I still cannot find it online.

Michael

I've looked at quite a few illustrations of Ottoman subjects online for my flat projects and that was my first thought but his headdress appears to be more Indian looking. I'm interested to see if anyone can identify the figure.

Roger

Roger, I have checked pieces and box over several times, all it had written on it, in ball point pen was, Mongolian horse archer 54mm. It could be Indian yes, I shall try searching for those items online also, thanks for input.
It really is a high end piece of sculpting, veins sculpted onto horses legs etc. I thought maybe Romeo, Elite, Andrea etc.

I might have to offer a prize for the winner if it proves that elusive. I really want to know.

Thanks Michael

I'm with Rog in that it could well be an Indian, only reservation is the sword doesn't look like a Tulwar going on the hilt but it could be be a Turco Mongol quite easily also 54mm figures aren't my thing at all so as to maker no idea sorry

Might be worth checking any illustrated lists/catalogues for the now defunct Seil range. They certainly produced a good few exotic type figures in 54mm and cast in white metal.

I really have checked most avenues before posting this on here, I am very surprised no one here recognises the kit.
The kit will need to sit on backburner until I know more details.

Thanks again for all input.

Hi Pea Pot
I believe that this figure was a one off release for Euro 1998 by the Spanish Magazine Euro Modelismo I believe it was cast by Art Girona got it with all good intentions. but it still sits in all its glory in the Grey army box
The only ref I can find is from the Magazine of that month unfortunately all in Spanish (Except the photos of course ) and from what I can decipher it is a Mongol Archer from the 15th cen of possibly the Timur Lenk reign but that's only a guess I have attempted to attach some photos from the mag but having a problem Error showing attachment to large anyone with a tip on that subject
Hope this helps
Terry

Terry you are superb...And got there before me...You are exactly on the button.I also bought one of These at Euro and it came with a Magazine with an article on sculpting and painting the model...It was also very cheap and as mentioned the casting was superb.

Resize it for the webb
If you don't have a tool like Photoshop, you can resize on line here
http://www.webresizer.com/
just follow the instructions BUT your original must be less than 5M
Hope it help

This isn't going to be any help whatsoever but, although details are different, the pose is identical to an assembled and painted 54mm figure of a Hungarian Mounted Archer I saw in a shop in Budapest around 10 years ago.
I've been kicking myself ever since for not pulling the trigger and buying it when I had the chance.
:grumpy:
While I'm no expert, would some milliput and resculpting of the "turban" into a suitably shaped helmet turn the kit figure into a Mongol? Just a suggestion.
