Face painted with oil "MiG", glaze layers are superimposed and feathered by strokes of paint pre-diluted watery white spirit (first were applied darker shades lighter then), the texture of the skin (pores) made a darker shade of inflicting bodily paint brush hard, got a lot of small barely visible dots is noticeably adds to the realism. Stubble and eyebrows painted gray liquid diluted with oil, in the end painted lips and eyes are covered with a glossy varnish, especially not worked through the hair (just paid a base color), because soldiers will be in a knit hat.

A very impressive result particularly with the texture and the flesh like sheen that you have achieved.

Wow, that's so realistic I thought for a moment you are kidding us with real photos.
Large scale helps, but this realistic I have never seen such a figure before. I'd be very very interested in an SBS!
Extremely well done!

Looks too real to be a 1/6th fig, wow! I like the glazing affect of the oils, great use of the medium. Very cool finish Nick.

Cheers, Ski.

P.S. As an oiler myself, I'd be interested in a thurough explination of the SBS as well, sounds very useful indeed!

o/ another vote for an SBS here.

That is just amazing.

And where do you get a 1/6 scale woolly hat? Don't tell me you knitted it yourself using tiny knitting needles ;)

Respect,
Billy

I did think so myself at first. The give away is the fabric of the cap. But one of the most realistic faces I have seen, no doubt.

This really does look incredibly real, and have to look quite hard to find what might indicate otherwise.

Just a few criticisms or "tweeking" so to speak, but in case you have been using facial references that indicate otherwise, then just ignore the following:
1.) - bottom eyelashes look too well pruned in that they seem to be all equal distance apart.
2.) - 5'oclock shadow appears to extend all the way to the bottom lip, (or could be just the photo) - usually at the bottom corners of the mouth there is no beard stubble or is less dense
and 3.) add some highlight to the inner corners where the tear ducts are - unless you wish to rely on just on the gloss to give the eyes the wet look.

regards,
Jack

Hi Nick, Wonderful work you've done. Please show the hands as well, unless there are covered with gloves. And yes an SBS would be great.....

SBS...Step By Step , the details of each step you took to acheive the end resulte of what we see, and with photos would be a great help.
