Hi Guys,

Just finished this one. Bought it from Rob Lane at the Thornbury show this year.
What a superb bust! It was a joy to work on. The spectacles were a bit fiddly, and I expected to experience some breakages but, perhaps I wasn’t as cack-handed as I usually am, and everything went together without a hitch.
Finish is all either oils over Humbrol enamels or straight enamels.
In real life the scarf colours are quite dull. Unfortunately, the photos give them a rather bright effect. Sorry about that, but I’m a crap photographer.

Edward Sage used Microscale’s Micro Kristal Klear for the spectacle lenses in his box-art painting and I’ve followed his example. Many thanks to him for his ‘hot tip’. It made life so much easier than trying to cut and fit clear plastic lenses. It was very simple. Just dip a cocktail stick into the material and tease it in the frames until it fills lens area. Then just leave alone. Within half an hour the lenses were clear, but I left them for a few hours before attempting to place the specs on the bust.
The following compilation shows the specs without the lenses; the Kristal Klear just after application (it’s still opaque); an angled shot showing them clear and reflecting light and finally a clear view to the eyes.

Not only Robinson but also the BBC.

Years ago a small, predominately wargames company, produced a range of 54mm Dad's Army figures. These featured more in the wargames mags as the company specialsed in Operation Sealion vehicles etc in 20mm. For some reason the Dad's Army figures were featured on BBC's breakfast TV around 8.00am. Off I went to order the figures and by 9.00am the figures had been withdrawn under threats from the BBC legal department. Pays to keep a low profile.

Very nice! Glad you got on with the Micro Kristal Klear.

Edward,
Thanks again for your suggestion.

Nice job. I need to get a bottle of that eye glass lens maker.

Thanks

Colin,
For you and those who were not aware of this material and are interested in trying it out, Edward offers various items of advice in his box-art post at:-
