P51 Mustang 1/72 NMM

Good evening gents.
Now I know this is a figure modelling site, but I have posted a couple of my efforts of developing the NMM method for painting metals on figs. so I thought you might like to see how i have pushed it to aircraft ( not an area of modelling I"m normally into. ) Still I've entered it for Telford, hoping for a reaction from the aviation boys-
They are mainly into alclad and the latest AK products so this could be a surprise for them!

I am truly sorry, but it doesn't look like metal to me. Why use non metal when there is metal paint?

We're I American, this would probably be my favourite aeroplane

. However, being English, it will always be the Spitfire!!!! Seriously though, great job, good to see it here, and good luck for Telford

I've posted it elsewhere, and similar divided reactions- why do it when there is metallic paint available? PF boys who use this technique - what is your answer? Mine is that it is more artistic than applying Alclad or AK products- if you slap on the boil in the bag products then you end up with a Dinky toy!

It doesn't look particularly 'metallic' to my eye either, and I'm not convinced NMM works as well on such large surfaces. But that said, it's still a very neat and skilful paint job and I have to say well done for daring to push the envelope.
