Have you broken off his plume m'sieur ?

Careless collector !

(My favourite napoleonic casting by the way),
Up to now !.

I love the detail on the casting of general buonaporte
it is amazing.

Fantastic! (y) The sole remark I have is that he seems too tall, and the real character was indeed too small. But photographs can always mislead.

That apart the miniature is fantastic!!! Super work!
The debate is gonna always be bewteen FRinches and IMP inches.
I will suggest at a post mortem measured length ! of 1m68 he's over average length.
As long as he appears shorter than a guardsman/chasseur a pied en bonnet a poil it's gonna look right.
Academics, please stop arguing.
As long as he looks Thin in the revolution,
majestic and imperial as consul,
and looking a bit middle- aged in his middle age,
it doesn't matter.
1m 86 is 5'7" so that's it
My dad used to say if you wanna get ahead get a bigger hat !
Paul
I hear that he was taller on a horse

Phenominal model! Top of the wish list:woot: .
Gaudin; I agree with you about the Pavia painting, but think the picture below is a better match. Unfortunately I know nothing about this painting. Strange that neither of the paintings show the sword depicted in the model, which appears to be "Mameluke pattern" but even the picture I have posted does not suggest it is depicting Egypt.
It would but nice to hear from Richard Galicek on his choice for the sword used (although I'm not suggesting there is anything wrong with it).
I profess no knowledge of Bonaparte's personal swords, and I accept that paintings depicting periods prior to Egypt may show similar patterns but they unlikely to be dependable, having usually been painted later.
All I'm asking is;- Is it likely for French officers to have been using these swords prior to involvement in Egypt? For this reason I would suggest depicting the model as "Egyptian" rather than Revolutionary.

If that plate is the primary source, than it is a movie poster.

"Napoléon", silent film from 1927 directed by Abel Gance.

It is a classic French film. You can put it side by side with Alexander Nevsky by Sergei Eisenstein or even with Gone with the Wind, made a decade later. Here's some more posters:

Still today a fantastic movie! This is the leading actor - Albert Dieudonné incarnating in flesh and bones, like few, Napoleon:

This is purely a personal opinion, but even to present times you'll have difficulties in finding an actor representing Napoleon better than him - He really brought the man to life! If there are movie buffs around here, try to locate a copy. You won't regret!

In the meantime, I never thought this miniature to be based in a movie representation of Bonaparte. Is it, or isn't it? I predict everyone will jump in to participate! Let it roll :)

Thanks for that Blue Thunder. I have to admit I hadn't thought of the film as a source. There's not a lot in it, but to me the model looks more Bonaparte than Albert Dieudonné, but it could easily be used as either.
It's also only just occurred to me that the famous Gericault painting of the Guard Chasseur a cheval is usually assumed to be of a Lt Dieudonné. Any connection?

A lot of people asking me about this statue :
144.jpg

It's a bronze with patina, size 111 x 51 cm. (43.7 x 20.1 in.), sculptor Charles Eduard RICHEFEU 1868-1945
It's a reproduction of a statue (From RICHEFEU) in the Invalides in Paris :
