This is one of the first of my Chicago MMSI purchases. I wanted this figure the moment I saw it on the new release forum. I really enjoyed this project and only wish I had planned out the ground work a little better. I hadn't accounted for the shield so that explain why I added the tree stump. It all works in the end I suppose...I'll leave that to you, the good viewer to determine.

Thanks Steve, the kit does have a very dramatic pose that catches the eye. It's why I was so taken with it when it was released. I'd love to do the Hospitilar figure that was part of the same release.

That's a lovely piece Glen. I agree it has a dramatic and very present pose, and your paintwork emphasized it well.
Maybe it's a bit too late saying this, and I hope you don't mind, but personally I would have extended the rock a bit to mount the shield. Perhaps this can still be done, if you want? It can be build around the stump actually, no dismounting of anything needed. I hate it when you discover things like this late....doesn't stop it from happening unfortunately...! :)

Cheers,
Adrian

That was my concern too Adrian and when I looked, the extension needed a lot of putty and I had already mounted the figure onto the base. Well, you know how that goes, I just hit upon the stump idea to avoid the frustration of having to completely re-work the ground cover, which is my least favorite part of figure modeling. Perhaps leaving it just now may the the thing I need, and if I decide to change it later I can always do that with the stump acting as a kind of base in itself as you suggest. And thanks by the way for pointing it out and voicing your opinion. Always appreciated and welcomed.

Was talking in the other thread about FeR line of 75's having the "paint me" itch factor into it and here we go. Another awesome piece from the same line came out from your hands.
Great work, Glen! Definitely you like to paint white.
Cheers,
Zeno :)

Thanks Zeno, I'm not sure how much I "like" painting white, but when you get a figure like this one, you learn to like it pretty quickly.

Actualy, I think the stump is a smart idea and if you hadn't pointed it out, I'm not sure how many had noticed. Personally I love doing groundwork so I didn't feel the Oh-crap-I-have-to-do-it-again factor!
Never mind, it's a great piece and the difficult white looks very convincing.

Cheers
Adrian
