Thanks chaps - the turban was a real labour of love with all those stripes. Lots of straight edges to paint!

Its based on Caton Woodville's painting Tommy Atkins, but when I researched the turban it belongs to 1st Skinner's Horse, 1880. (Plate D, Osprey, Bengal Cavalry Rgts, 1857 - 1914), before it changed to blue/white/yellow. The regt did see action on the NWF at that time.
If Im honest, there should be very fine gold and black lines on it too, but I think if Id tried to paint those, it would have ended up in next door's garden!!

If it looks good it is good. And painting to your own ability is all that matters.
And painting to me is about fun and not complete accuracy.

When I was in Skinner's back in '80 there was this one bloke who didn't have the thin black and gold lines on his turban, what a ****!

Thanks Ralph - I know Ill never be the world's best painter, but I enjoy it and it helps me relax. No point in making work for yourself!
