Made a false start on this yesterday so it spent a while in the Dettol...... Got off to a better start today though blocking in the face and his wonderfully understated hat :). Needs work lol

Hi Graham

Nice start on the fleshwork ....what colours are you going for ..as per box art ?

I see you have Robs "Cricket" figure in the background as well

Happy painting

Yes, I did think box art scheme for him. I have done a quick google and, for this one, the blue with red sash looks good to me. Well spotted, yep ‘Anyone for Cricket’ is on its way lol.

Bit more oil paint blending on the face then I decided to (very) roughly block in the colours with artists acrylic which has a slightly glossy finish.

The eyes don’t look too bad in the flesh but they are very untidy looking in the pics so I will re visit them later.

More progress. Blended the face a bit more and started the highlight and shading on the clothes and hair.

Did the freehand around the slashes in the jacket as per box art but the guy who did the box art can paint, I can’t...... will live with it for a while but I really don’t think it is neat enough. I do have an option to paint over the freehand and get rid of it so all is not lost.

Got the metalwork done apart from picking out the rivets and the red sash is highlighted and shaded.

Starting to take shape now but still a way to go.

Looking good Graham, I have problems with eyes in pics compared with in the "flesh"., Hope the light box I ordered will fix it.

Geoff

Thanks Geoff, be interested to see how you get on with the light box. I think the problem with the eyes on mine is that the photo is much bigger than the real thing, it's all a matter of scale and what you can get away with. Once (if) I learn to paint them properly, it won't be an issue
