  • Hi there

Sorry it has taken me so long to notice this message!

Source for 3/21st was Haythornthwaite's Uniforms of Waterloo. He shows them in dark green coat and breeches. The coat has 3 rows of buttons, the facings and shoulder rolls are black, the shako is a British rifle shako except the cockade is black and white. All belts are black but he has only one crossbelt. Over his right shoulder he wears a British-style white haversack with two yellow metal buttons. His musket has a black strap. He has a dark grey cloth backpack with grey overcoat rolled on top.

You can see this uniform at http://www.mont-saint-jean.com/cent_jours/unitesPR.php. Select Infanterie de ligne, then 21eme Regiment d'Infanterie, then 3eme bataillon.

Haythornthwaite says that many Prussian uniforms were "like those manufactured in Britain for the Portuguese army". The only difference here seems to be the shape of the gaiter top.

Hello thank you for your comments regarding the rather confusing napoleonic figure.your guess about the possible identity of the unit it represents is right on track. I have been able to check my books and do some internet reserch about the cacadores. Hoewever about the unit of prussian reserve, the 3/21, not been able to check, can you please tell me your source for the 3/21 similarity or point me towards available references.
    Regards
    antonio
