    Knights - Hospitaller & Templar

Thanks for the kind words Paul, Jay, Marc and Vergilius - I've never had the courage to enter anything in competition!

    Knights - Hospitaller & Templar

My modelling has been very sporadic for years but a few months ago I received a couple of Andrea 54mm kits for my birthday. I really enjoyed working on these, and am happily back and commited to figure modelling. These don't look too great, especially close-up, but what's important to me is that...

    Andrea 90mm Chasseur

Thanks for all the encouragement, it means a lot. I had thought I'd be working on the rider by now, but I can't seem to leave the horse alone. Jay, you're right, the horse had been lacking some shadow definition, and the dapples weren't defined as much as I'd liked, so I've worked on those. The...

    Andrea 90mm Chasseur

Thanks Rocky, yes nearly all acrylics - Model Color & Andrea primarily. I prefer to use enamels for the metallic colours though. When I did my first white metal kit 7 years ago, I wanted to try something other than enamels so I went out and got a set of oils but got frustrated with the drying...

    Andrea 90mm Chasseur

I did a lot of modelling as a child in the 1970's, but really only sporadically since then. I made my 1st white metal figure in 2000 and then fatherhood and work got in the way again. Then, this year, I received a couple of Andrea 54mm figures for my birthday and really enjoyed working on them...

    Engraved nameplates

Marc, John, many thanks for the info - this is exactly what I want. It'll save the hassle of travelling to the nearest trophy shop, - and they obviously are well respected too.:) Cheers, Mike

    Napoleonic Chassuer Colors?

I've seen them (I think) 6 times now, though only within the last 11 years - never saw the great Moon in action. That said, they're still a considerable live act, still capable of making right racket (in a good way). Sorry to hear about the Chasseur and good luck with the 2nd attempt! Mike

    Engraved nameplates

This question is aimed mainly at UK modellers. Does anyone know an online resource for getting nameplates (if that's the right term - i.e. the plaque attached to the wooden base) done? Do you all rely on local trophy shops and the like? Thanks, Mike

    Napoleonic Chassuer Colors?

Hey, theseeker (a Who fan perchance?) I too am currently working on the Andrea 90mm chasseur. I'll look forward to comparing the results!

    Static grass

Hi everyone, my 1st post - be gentle and sorry, no doubt you've had this one before. Whilst I'm not completely new to figure modelling, I still see myself as a novice. The more I read on the subject the more I realise how little I know, but this site is wonderful, glad to be aboard...
