End of an era. Ray Harryhausen gone.

I was lucky enough to meet Ray while working at Chiodo Bros while working on "Elf" and a stop motion Christmas special for the "Simpsons". He had a very quiet gentle manner. He also had one of the firmest handshakes I have ever encountered. He had amazingly strong hands for a man his age. He did...

    Completed Bill Sikes

I hope you know even with the one criticism, that I really do think this piece is great.

    Completed Bill Sikes

I really like this piece, but if there was one thing that seems a little off to me it would be the light. The broken areas should be very bright because the light has nothing to diffuse it there. So it should not be dark but bright with an almost white edge to the broken glass edges. Every thing...

New Master For Medieval Half Timbered Building

I was just thinking I have had those pieces of oak for like 20 years. I worked construction one year, and I worked with the finish carpenters quite a bit. They always had this beautiful quarter sawn oak that they were using in the house we were working on. So I started to have them save me cut...

    Best colour to use

I will say what I always say when someone asks this kind of question. There is no perfect color for a uniform. Or a specific tank for that matter. Uniforms from one company might be one color, uniforms from another might be a different color. They both call them field gray. It might be one made...

    News Crecy Models - Horse

Very true. I looked at this and thought it looked like the type of horse you would find on the Scottish English border region in the 16th century and before Hobelar's or Hobbies. A bead that is no longer with us. .

Completed "The arrival of Englishemen in Virginia 1585"

I have always thought that was the idea of a box diorama, to capture a moment.

New Master For Medieval Half Timbered Building

The oak just worked for that. The ligher piece is a small pice of oak branch I found on my walk home. I still need to make a sliding boldt for the door. I do not plan to make it a working feature it just has to look like it could work. ;-)

Kings Road Miniatures New Wizard Nicolas Flamel

I know. Actually he seems to have been neither. My partner really wanted me to find a name from history or legend for the Wizard. So after going through lots of sources, I really liked Flamel. He has been used in a lot of fiction and it some of it he is also called a wizard. Since most of the...

What's the best way to make Gambions

I have made them, but I chose to use brass wire ruffed up to look like twigs and then used solder for the basket weaving part. I some times use a couple of thickness of it to make it look a little more organic. It takes a little time, but it looks good. You do it in the same way described above.

Completed Critique William C Hopson 1920

Wow Brain! I thought he looked good in progress, but this is really wonderful! Will you please send me photos soon, so I can post them on our gallery. I could steal them from here, but I would like the quality to stay as high as possible.

    WIP Critique Early Aviator

Brian was kind enough to give me a bit of a preview of this figure, and it is outstanding. The rest of the figure is just as nice as the face.
