La Hire, Battle of Patay 1429 - Young Miniature Review

Good review. Looks like the inspiration for the bust came directly from the French film: The Messenger. http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1072929280/tt0151137

    This is Terrible!

The guy is successful in his selling because the modeling community that keeps in touch ( such as planetfigure ) is too small and insignificant to have an effect. For every modeler we know there are hundreds we will never know. That is the market he reaches. Our complaints are less than...

For Sale Sineus.Saladin-Muslims leader. Middle East, Crusader States. Third Crusade 1189–1192

I agree.....and since it's strictly a commercial venture on their part I really don't consider them part of the community.

For Sale Sineus.Saladin-Muslims leader. Middle East, Crusader States. Third Crusade 1189–1192

Tommi, they never respond. I think it's policy! But here's the story and it's true. This hobby gained popularity in the 60s in U.K., U.S.A. and France. Those that became 'addicted' were amateur historians or history buffs. None ( or very, very few ) were professional, classically trained...

Historically there is no reference that Saladin dressed like a peacock.

How many hours? Probably not as many as the average painter. Distemper paint dries quickly ( unlike oils ) and covers in ONE stroke. If you are a classically trained artist as many of the Russian painters are you already know where you are going and how to get there. And what is being offered...

    Space Knight

Paul never copied, Roc. He made an initial Space Born that he still has ( seen it a couple weeks ago ) and revamped the idea for the Ft-Du project. It was Ft-Du's biggest seller. He was originally inspired to do some large scale figures based on Warhammer ( I have one ) but never offered them in...

What the hell is distemper paint??????? Did a quick Google. Go to Wikepedia. Everyone here should. Now we have a 'clue' to the Russian painting techniques.

    Space Knight

Nice work Roc. Paul would approve. We both know that Paul is one of the finest unknown sculptors in our field. Remember the large scale Woodland Indians he did for the recently deceased, sorely missed and well beloved Bob Knee? Bob had great shots of them in HM and gave Paul a small footnote at...

    Inacurracy in Troiani painting

I don't know about the rest of you but the misplaced plant was the first thing I noticed! Well....maybe the second thing.... Er.....maybe I wouldn't notice it at all. Okay....I didn't notice it...... I mean it's a plant. If it was an igloo I woulda noticed it.

    Happy Birthday Angela

Roc, the last time Angela popped in here was 2005. She's probably married with 4 kids by now and living in the burbs completely forgetting why she joined ( since she never posted anything ) the planet..... But you're such a sentimentalist! So Happy B'Day Angela wherever you are and whatever...
