    Completed Iron Brigade

Keep on keeping on. Waiting to see your finished Iron Brigade. Haven't had time to get back to my own but you thread is an encouragement for me to get back to it.

    Completed Iron Brigade

David, you have inspired me to get back to work on my own FeR Iron Brigade figure. Had it primed and undercoated for months but put it on the shelf. Your figure is coming along nicely. Since you have moved along with the sleeve I wanted to point a detail out to you. You may already know this...

    Completed Iron Brigade

I've taken to keeping a 5 x8 index card next to my wet pallet. When I mix a new uniform color I paint a little square on my card and write down the colors used. I label the card according to the figure and keep them all in a folder. That has helped me a lot when I paint another figure with...

    USM Sgt, 1833.

You got'a done and now you can put it in the cabinet and move one to something fun you've been wanting to do! I think it came out rather nice.

Yes. I've been guilty of that on more than one occasion and as far as I know there is no cure for it.

United States Marine c.1836. 75mm (APG figure)

President Andrew Jackson and I love the uniform colors on this Marine even though the Marines of the day hated it. It was a fun figure and the only thing I added was the vent pick/pan brush; defined the drop front trouser flap and added the sling at Jack Thompson suggestion. Also doomed the...

    WIP Here we go!!

Ditto on the AK UltraMatt. Best I have found so far with the possible exception of Testor's Dull Coat (airbrushed) I sometimes go that route when I have all the "cloth" painted.

Vallejo Satin with a bit of Gloss Varnish and Vallejo Glaze Medium did the trick for me. I wanted to bring the sheen up a bit more than the straight Satin.

Completed 75mm United States Marine c.1836

Getting down to the final details which I hope to finish up this weekend. Had to strip the shako because I was not happy with the sheen. Better now. The shako was varnished leather. I like my "grass green" but the camera captures it a bit lighter than in real life. The sample in the pic is...

Completed 75mm United States Marine c.1836

I remember that conversation. That Ole'Cherokee still sits in my cabinet. I would love to get back down to the Atlanta Show and it may yet still happen. As I remember Atlanta always has a goodly number of civil war figures which is my favorite era. Switched to acrylics some time back and my...

    Completed United States Marine 1833.

I hear ya' Had to work on some swirls myself and finally got most of them under primer. I had to use a little filler at the arms and waist. Not much though.

Completed 75mm United States Marine c.1836

I posted my initial review of the APG 75mm 1833 Marine a while back and have been following Viking Bob’s WIP with great interest. This is a really neat figure and Nap suggested a parallel WIP so here goes my version. Viking Bob is painting an 1833 version and I am doing an 1836 Marine. The only...

Pee Dee Wildcats, Co. K., 26th NC 75mm

This is the FeR/FAH00013 15th Georgia rebranded. North Carolina developed an excellent Quartermaster uniform supply system during the Civil War and although not that colorful I wanted to replicate the 1861 NC regulation state issued uniform. The blouse, trousers and blanket are NC issue. To...

WIP The clutter that is my bench!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that does that. I have figures I primed years ago and have yet to come back and paint them. Sometimes I think I have more fun in assembly (especially if i modify) than in the paint job.
