As for sculpting .....from a good producer .......you can usually count on everything being right

I also have a home made wet palette...........sponge and baking paper ..........when I soak the sponge
I put some washing up liquid in the tap water to break the water tension..........I then press the baking
paper down on the sponge soaking it then turn it over and soak the other side

I stand the can in a pint glass of warm water........as warming the can will atomise the paint for a finer spray
sometimes just rattling the can is not enough

There is a hell of a lot of oil to be taken out ...before you can begin to do anything with oil paints
Having got the excess oil out on a piece of card ;;;;;I use lavender oil as a medium
it makes the paint go on smoothly.......... now and then if i have a glossy area

I would try to rescue the face by painting over.......Have done this many times
If the oils are perfectly dry ...seal them with a matt varnish and brush on some thin primer
i do this on a flat where being a bit heavy handed with the blending has exposed the metal
