    Completed Gouvion St. Cyr bust

Still have more to do on his face and hair but almost there. I’m moving on to his collar and cuirass lining for now. Am I the only one seeing Jeff Tracy of Thunderbirds fame in this bust? Colin

    Completed Gouvion St. Cyr bust

While I am painting St. Cyr I am fending off a rescue cat we have just adopted. She has bonded to me and wants to live on my lap. She’s what is known as a “wobbly cat” due to having FIP as a kitten. Good thing I’m not painting in oils or I would have hair in my paint for sure. She’s a lovely cat...

    Completed Gouvion St. Cyr bust

Alexandre's box art uses metallics and if I can come near that I will be a happy painter. A bit more progress. I am posting face updates frequently so the progression can be seen.

    Completed Gouvion St. Cyr bust

I’m not a big NMM fan except on 28mm’s and some decorations/awards. I admire the skill but think it’s mostly a trend. It works for photographs but not for 360 degree show or collection viewing.. I have a lot of metallic paints. Probably starting the Golden Pro Liquids and staining it with...

    Completed Gouvion St. Cyr bust

Thanks Henk. It’s an optical illusion. The bust is leaning back and chin down a bit so the red cuirass lining obstructs his neck in a front view. It’s superb sculpt IMO. Check out these box art pics. And a bit more progress. Still working his face. Colin

    Completed Gouvion St. Cyr bust

Thanks Malc…a bit yellow at this point. I’ll filter and highlight that back and various inks will help….I hope.

    Completed Gouvion St. Cyr bust

Thanks Simon. Ebroin is my favourite bust sculptor and this series was made for my area of interest…i.e. Napoleonic + personalities. Colin

    Completed Gouvion St. Cyr bust

Thanks Nap. Good references for St.. Cyr as Colonel General of Cuirassiers. A bit more but still lots to do on the face. Colin

    Cat folks....

Four here too. I have a bed behind my painting chair. There are usually two felines sleeping on it as they seem to have separation anxiety for me…these two are recent rescue adds to our family. I’m used to cat hair in figure paint. Colin

    Completed Gouvion St. Cyr bust

Starting Alexandros’ excellent Gouvion St Cyr bust (200mm). Part of their excellent and growing Napoleonic leaders series. This one is from 2019. Acrylics and inks. Initial flesh tones…lots more to come. Colin
