I can see how the scale change would allow you to approach it differently and freshly.

    Patrolling Oosterbeeke Sept. 23, 1944

Thanks Brian. I won’t be revisiting camo any time soon. Not my gig.

Good job and congrats on painting the same bust 2X. Not sure I could bring myself to do that. Both are terrific BTW.

Thanks Nigel. It’s a truly lovely figure.

    Patrolling Oosterbeeke Sept. 23, 1944

Thanks to Richie for this wonderful 1/16 figure of a Parachute Regiment private patrolling within the Oosterbeek cauldron five days into the Battle of Arnhem. The figure is 1/16 and beautifully cast. I don’t know if Richie has any more of these as he was only casting 30. But I expect when they...

Completed Pvt Sandy Cortmann 3 Para Arnhem 1944 (1/16)

Damn. After looking at Richie’s metallic version I realize I have glued the wrong end of the broken sten barrel to the SMG. I will be correcting that. I presumed the sight was at the front of the barrel.

Completed Pvt Sandy Cortmann 3 Para Arnhem 1944 (1/16)

Thanks Simon. added the broken sten barrel, painted his wings, started roughing in the groundwork today. The bricks will be roughed up after the glue is dry, using a carbide scraper. They’re sculpey.

Denison progress. I like the dry brush effect. I found that Golden Pro artists’ acrylics are translucent so I did the brown overlay camo in that. Then dry brush in base lightened with unbleached titanium to get a weathered faded look. Not done yet but I’m happy where it’s going. Dirtied him up a...

Completed Pvt Sandy Cortmann 3 Para Arnhem 1944 (1/16)

Back at it after several weeks of being AWOL with Dennison frustration. This still has a long way to go. After I am happy with the base and green, I need to add the brown transparency. I think I will hit the finished smock with a dry brush of diluted tan to pull everything together and...

Members' galleries / albums on pF

I agree the galleries are too cumbersome for the impatient among us (which includes me) to bother with. I have always thought it strange that new completed posts are not highlighted on the home page while vbench posts are. Perhaps that is because “completed” was a later addition to the site...

WIP Critique Need help finishing this figure...

Given he’s holding a Martini, I see this as post battle. So I would dirty and dust him up. Also, for highlights on the scarlet, I would be tempted to mix in some flesh or light wood colour, even if it dulls the finish. He’s in South Africa so fabric dye fade and ingrained dirt/dust/sweat would...
