    "Mine had a ramrod"

Gary, looking good! One thing though, it may be the angle of the photo or the dark shadows, but the shoulder looks a little thin. The folds look very natural to me. Great stuff!

Rebels & Redcoats, How Britain lost America

A percussion rifle? That's pretty bad. You can almost understand the producer or editor missing that it they aren't familiar with the subject, but the reenactor they filmed should be flogged!

First Invasion, The War of 1812

I remember seeing something about that (maybe you told me about it) awhile ago. I was impressed and anxious to see it. I'd like to do more stuff from that period.

    "put in the boy's"-ACW vignette

Nice work Jason. That officer's sash looks amazingly delicate. Is that rolled out Magic Sculp or something else?

    Ethan Allen

Thanks to one and all for compliments and critizisms! I will have another look at the folds at the front of his breeches....maybe they do need to be softened up a bit. I intentionally kept the head on the small side, and the hat a little larger to emphasize the size of the man. Ethan was a...

    Ethan Allen

OK, folks. Here's my latest sculpt. It's done in Magic Sculp and based on a clients father who is a decendant of Ethan Allen himself. Let me know what you think....and be honest!

    Fisherman Bust

Francesca, that looks great! I agree, the drapery is right on the money. I see what you mean about the stitching. It really should be raised, but that wouldn't be a lot of fun! You have to paint it! It sort of reminds me of a Winslow Homer painting..."Eight Bells" I think it is. I may have...

Back now but not in the best shape

I always hate to hear stuff like this, but I wish the best buddy!

    The Alabamian

Looking good so far. The only comment I'd have is about the hat. The round, flat crown portion of the hat needs to slide forward. Take a comparison with the painting.

    One of their own

Gary, you certainly are prolific these days! Your SBS's are very informative...you should consider a book! It seems like you use every type of putty there is. Is there a method to your madness or is it just that you like to try different stuff?

    The War that made America

THat looks like a pretty good series Gary. Thanks for the post. Too bad we have to wait until the Fall of next year!

    Odds and ends

Hey Gary, Nice work as ever! I tried your Tri-corne method the other day and it worked out nicely. I used for a 75mm Ethan Allen piece I'm working on. I'll try to post some pic's soon. Pete

    Mystic Warrior Princess

You did a great job making this rather epically endowed female look natural. It looks like you're using two types of putty - A&B and Magic Sculp. Is that right? One more question.....Who did you get to model for this? ;)

    "Mine had a ramrod"

Nice work! You also make the process easy to understand. I may have missed it, but how do you get the sculpey so smooth after you've finished sculpting in the folds? Pete

    Creole

Nice work Joe! I've been waiting to see him painted and you did a great job on an imaginative subject. Pete
