FeR Miniatures May New Release: 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment, 1863-1865

FeR has been making some excellent American Civil War figures for some time. Another job well done.

"That's why our hobby is about Historical Miniatures not fantasy figures." IMO the hobby is whatever you want it to be.

    Ronin

I think (hope) this may be just a style thing. Latorre has had other figures over the years that have really long legs. While there are those that have been put up on a pedestal, at some time or another they are bound to turn out a figure that's not their best.

    Ron Tunison Sculptures

A shame he never did a few of his sculptures to be marketed as kits. That wasn't his thing though. I'd design a few larger scale Civil War figures but would only do so as one offs. I think it would be hard to find someone willing to produce it, and I doubt the compensation for such a project...

    Ron Tunison Sculptures

Mike, It's just a personal choice. Looks as if Ron might welcome such a thing. Likewise I can't imagine going in and adding additional figures to a Troiani or Rocco canvas print. It's already a finished piece of art be it a print or sculpture. That's just me.

    Ron Tunison Sculptures

Ron Tunison would usually paint a small number of each edition of a sculpture he would do. While I feel the painting looks well done lets not forget these were marketed as pieces of art and not as a figure/model kit. IMO out of respect for Ron's work I personally would NOT show painted pieces of...

    Ron Tunison Sculptures

I know Ron would usually sell a very limited number of his sculptures painted while the majority were just castings mounted on wooden base. I don't think many folks that collect his work would think to paint them.

Confederate Cav Trooper 1864 75mm Ellies Miniatures

I'm pretty convinced the "artwork" looks like a photograph of a Civil War reenactor that has been Photoshopped to look like a painting. I've seen other photographers do this with photos of reenactors. While there are reenactors that have first rate "impressions" this is not one of them IMO...

Confederate Cav Trooper 1864 75mm Ellies Miniatures

To me it looks like a well sculpted figure of a "farby" (inaccurate) Civil War renactor.

    Book Project

I was really happy to see some of my work appear in the Winter 2015 issue of Military Collector & Historian published by The Company of Military Historians. I've always wanted to illustrate a plate and or article for them ever since I was a kid. It feels great to see it finally come to fruition...

Very nice. The only thing that looks a bot out of place is his pouch which is unusually large.

Apocalypse Now Bunny Carrie Foster Project

I usually bake sculpey at 230-250 degrees. You risk burning the sculpey at anything beyond that, especially if you leave it in the oven for long periods of time. I'll bake it for 30-45 minutes then turn the oven off and then let it cool for 30 minutes or so, then bake another 30-45 minutes.

    Roger Rangers First WIP´s

Here are some notes and images that may be of some help regarding the uniform and equipment worn by Rogers Rangers and in some cases Rogers himself. I include images of Rogers as there are aspects of your figure that have been taken from them. The cap you have given the figure is one that has...

    Roger Rangers First WIP´s

Though there are some living historians (reenactors) that have good impressions a lot of the equipment like the shotbag with the GR2 cypher in my opinion is something put together based on actual items to varying degrees. The shotbag on your figure is way too big. The leggings are also to big...
