    Andrea Miniatures FAQ

Thanks, I thought as much. I have a library of JJ Fedorowicz titles and some are OOP, one listed for $800 for years on some sites and mentioned across the web as 'a must snap up if found for $300'. I tried selling it for $160 (New it was $100) and no interest. When I picked up the brushes...

    Andrea Miniatures FAQ

I have a copy of the book and was thinking about putting up for sale and I'm seeing ridiculous prices listed online, near $200. I guess it's out of print, but is it really that big of a deal?

WIP 40mm French Officers, Yorktown 1781

Excellent work, Lafayette would be proud. 'Howard Hues' on the bottle made me laugh, I never saw those before...

    Painting attempt.

Thanks Samson, I worked right out of the brochure they included, the warmer colors of the Fairy set. The only colors used that weren't in that set were German Black for the stubble and pupils, field blue in the irises and sand yellow highlights in the hair. Same for Oddball, just on the...

I can't add anything but my admiration. I'll be following this closely.

    Painting attempt.

Thanks Paul. They're my originals. They'll be available as a bust or stand alone head when I tighten up the sculpts and add chests for the busts. Here's a better shot, I set up a photo booth, it's more accurate to what I have so far.

WIP Critique German Stormtrooper, Young Miniatures bust

One day. One day I'll progress enough to start to think that I could dream to paint a face like that.

WIP Young Miniatures BRITISH SAS North Africa 1941

Outstanding. I'll be following, learning and shamelessly stealing every technique.

Thanks all, you are too kind. It's just good to actually be painting. I've had a Jeff Shui figure and some Moebius kits in various stages of assembly for a long time now, but haven't taken the time to get started with the paint in any concentrated way. I'm comfortable with the Aves, not...

    Painting attempt.

Thanks Chris, much appreciated, but in all honesty, the credit goes to all you guys here and all the work on display to follow and learn from. From equipment to techniques, it's all out there. For the record, I'm no stranger to painting on canvas or models with an airbrush. The biggest aid...

    Painting attempt.

I'm not a painter by any stretch (figures anyway), I did a quick cast of the sculpt to see how it paints before I finish it. I've only painted a few figures over the years, have yet to finish one actually. I love Vallejo for modeling, so when I saw the Nocturna line mentioned by a very...

Air Brushes and Compressors - with training classes

I've bought a few things over the years from them, always good service. Unless you are using one their coupons or specials, you can usually find a better price elsewhere, but they do know airbrushes.

    Trying my hand at monochromatic.

Using an old kit, turned on it's side: The Creature. I airbrushed three Vallejo colors: Black, German Tanker Black and German Winter Tanker Highlight and a 50/50 mix of the latter two. After I went back with a brush and started using those shades as well as pure white on the torso and...

A new take on the old Aurora kits

Outstanding. I just bought the OOP kit of the repop of the originals. Paid through the nose, but wanted to see how they stood up compared to what I remembered.

Thank you sir. I have plenty of 1/16 tanks, all radio controlled like this guy:

    Finishing up two 1/16s...

Thanks guys. I did a quick cast to see how they look and will paint. Primed with Vallejo poly. Robert, I'm shooting for a bust at most. My vacuum chamber is on the small side and I'm not set up for a big production. I mostly do prototyping and small batch runs. Ideally I'd like to keep it...

Some cleaning up and surface smoothing and these will be heading into the silicone. Aves white with brass tubing for the snaps on the headgear. I hope they're recognizable. ;)

    Les Grognard 1/16 sculpt

I'd caution you about the left leg going too wide. The drawing depicts equal weight, but left leg dominant would be nice in this pose. If you stick with the left as weight bearing, it needs to be underneath him, more in the center. If you want equal weight between the two, you should spread the...
