    The Thirty Years War.

Looking good. This quote from How the Scots Won the Civil War A McCrae may be of interest. Finding an army drawn up against him, Montrose sent a letter advising the townsfolk of his terms: Aberdeen was to be given up to him entire, or all who resist were to receive no quarter. As set forth...

    The Thirty Years War.

I'm just getting myself organised to travel back up to Aberdeen this morning and have downloaded Buchan's Montrose to my Kindle to read at sea. Once I get settled in I'll revisit the books I mentioned earlier and have a look at what is written about the sack of Aberdeen. I know there's an...

The Battle of Langside : 13th May 1568

Imagine living in the House of Commons, that's the thing of nightmares. Leslie's behaviour after Philliphaugh was probably one of the things he learnt in Europe during the TYW. This little conversation is putting me in the mood for rereading those books I mentioned earlier and getting out some...

The Battle of Langside : 13th May 1568

Hope you don't mind me hijacking a bit more with this as it's sort of relevant and interesting, to me anyway because I live there. :D From the House of Commons Journal Vol. 4 31 October 1646. The humble Petition of the Inhabitants of Bedall and Askew in Richmondshire, in the County of Yorke...

The Battle of Langside : 13th May 1568

Boyhood hero Marquis of Montrose? I read Crown, Covenant and Cromwell, The Civil War in Scotland by Stuart Reid and How the Scots won the English Civil War by Alisdair McRae not too long ago which is why the bells were ringing... but yes, you gave some big clues. Roger.

Absolutely Steve. In all genres of modelling, figures aircraft and AFV's etc. you usually find the internet experts very really post their 100% accurate work.... I wonder why? Don't get me wrong I find discussion on uniform/clothing etc. interesting, it's the way some people go about it that...

No, the only thing we can do as figure painters is the best we can with the available information, let those that worry about such things and pontificate on the internet stress themselves for no reason while the rest of us enjoy our hobby. Roger.

I remember when we were issued our No.1 and 2 uniforms it took nearly all morning to match up everyone's jackets with their trousers there was such a variation in shades. That was 1981. That's why I don't take a great deal of notice of self appointed experts. Roger.
