    A question on shading

I have just started this Border Miniatures figure of Robert the Bruce, I have applied a base coat with acrylic and usually would proceed with oils. My question is, should I add the shadows and highlights and then the heraldry or paint them on first and use washes to shade and highlight?

    Sculpt # 2

Started this a few years ago and decided to dig it out and start working on it again. Have not done much with figures for the last two years as I had been struggling with my painting and getting very frustrated. Will add some more details before I try to paint it.
