    Quint and a friend

Hello again all. Well, I managed to finish something again... hurrah for me :) I got a copy of the Quint bust from White Shark Gaming and since I already had the Great White Shark piece from Pegasus Hobbies, figured I had to try mounting them together. So many difficulties with the shark that I...

    General Hancock bust

Hello all. I wanted to share the first traditional figure (excluding my 2 flats) that I've finished in a very long time. Over 1 1/2 years now! It's not that I'm not painting, I've just been in a big slump trying to finish something. This is my version of the APG bust of General Winfield Scott...

    Lion flat

I've finally finished a figure! My last completed piece was 1 1/2 years ago. I've started several in that time but just wasn't able to get anything completed until now. That one was a lion flat I did for a co-worker. I liked the piece so much that I got another one for myself. I modified it by...

    Acrylic primer for vinyl figure?

Hello all. Haven't done any posting for a very long time but still here and still painting :-) I'm having trouble with using oils on a vinyl figure. I've have the same problem in the past where certain colors (but by no means all) refuse to dry...for weeks at a time! So, my solution has always...

    Series 7 are back

Anyone else notice that Winsor Newton Series 7 are available again? I just completed an order to replenish my stock. Not every one of my normal sources listed them as available but a chance look at Dick Blick/Utrech sites showed them again. Dick Blick even had the miniature sizes that I prefer.

    2014 IPMS Nationals

I've looking on the figure forums I follow and have seen no mentions about the 2014 IPMS Nationals in Virginia this coming week. I know that the APG show is the following week and really just up the road but it's hard to believe that no one is going. I'll be there...anyone else? :D Craig

Clean up of vinyl figures help

Hello all, I recently bought a vinyl figure and am having some difficulty cleaning up the mold seam lines. Traditional methods and tools like sanding sticks and #11 blades don't seem to be working well. With it being a heavy walled hollow figure, I'm considering using a tiny bit in my Dremel to...

    Soviet Officer bust - TGB

Here's my version of the TGB Soviet Officer bust. Tried some new techniques on this one. Primed in black and the original method I was shown for painting the face. Burnt Sienna all over, wiped off and then blending up to the highlights with other colors. Plus, I really tried pushing my contrasts...

I'm currently working on the TGB Miniatures Soviet Officer bust and I'm in need of some help. Anyone recognize this bust?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there recognized this bust... It came already started and came in just a clear baggie. I've searched the internet but can't find any good info on it. I know it's Napoleonic and is probably a lancer. It came with a plume that appears to mount to the...

I managed to get my pictures uploaded. Some good..some not so good. I never know until I see them on the screen :) A lot of them didn't turn out that were taken with the windows in the background. The camera (or maybe it was me) just couldn't handle the lighting. Anyway, here's a link to the...

    Strange oil paint problem

Hi, I had something strange happen recently and was wondering if anyone else had encountered this before. I was painting the display sample of a garage kit figure being produced by two guys in my model club. The piece was cleaned and primed (Krylon) with plenty of time to cure. When I began...
