WIP La Hire - Battle of Patay 1429

This is a work in progress of my first attempt at large scale NMM. I've had the bust for a while and have seen many true metal versions so was looking to do something different. It has turned out to be a lot harder than I thought, but I hope I'm on the right track. I have some images of Kirill...

    Conan inspired diorama

Hi All This is a Conan inspired diorama using the Andrea Barbarian & Forge world Dread Maw. I have tried to get a comic book feel using deep browns and reds and a fair bit of contrast.

    Amelia Steam

Here is the Scale 75 special edn. Mini - Amelia Steam. Quite a detailed and enjoyable figure to paint with a few challenges such as striped pants and NMM diesel punk style jet pack

    WIP Captain Amelia Steam

Just started this one from scale 75. Generally I paint busts of a different meaning, but this looks like it will be a fun project.

    Sparta - Battle of Thermopylae 480 B. C.

Here is the young miniatures Sparta - Battle of Thermopylae 480 B. C. I have tried to paint it in the style of the 300 movie, as this is where I think the bust got its inspiration rather than historical sources.

    WIP ANZAC - AC Models

I'm going to start this 90mm beast from AC models. It's something I pick up, fiddle with the bits, them put in the too hard basket for later. But now I think I'll have a go at it. The problem for me here is the rather rough cast - I think it will need a different painting style to bring it to...

    WIP Sparta - Young Minis

Hi all I'm just starting the Spartan bust from young miniatures. Its a somewhat styalized Spartan that appears to be taken from the movie 300. The bust has been around for a few years so I'm sure many of you have had a crack at it. I particularly enjoyed painting the cloak, it has lots of...

    Warrior of the North

Here's my take on Andrea's 'Warrior of the North' , its sure to be a popular subject It's a very good likeness of Eddard Stark, I love the grim face which, for me, was the highlight of painting the bust. I chose to do the sword in NMM style which was a lot of work but gives a different look that...

    WIP Warrior of the North

Hi All Just working my way thru this bust, however, i'm using a range of paints that are extremely matt (scale 75). Although I quite like the effect on the skin, hair and leather seem to look too flat. I'm in 2 minds about hitting some areas with satin varnish - love some opinions.

    Completed Banzai 1942 - Burma

I have just returned to the hobby after a few years break. Here is my take on scale 75's fearsome Japanese officer. I wanted to get across the steamy jungle feel with dirt and sweat to break up the plain uniform. Its a great miniature, very dynamic and quite unusual.

    WIP Alternate history vignette

Had a bit of fun kit bashing a Warhammer 40K dreadnought with a panther kit (more of the panther visable from the rear. I'll call this ' Eisen Verkleidet Jugend - Fuhrerbunker May 1945' . Its in 1/72 scale.

Adrift from figures for the moment

Hi all I think I have modellers ADHD. Its been a few months since I've done a figure - mainly because of wanting to try out different techniques. I have been fascinated by sea sculpting and so wanted to try my hand at it modelling the USS Monitor at sea. This is work in progress from an iphone...

A bit of an armour diversion

Had a bit of fun this month working aon a 1/72 scale project. I wanted to have a play with snow, so made some fir trees , however, the scale didnt fit any of the figures I had. I thought it might be fun to blow up a panther and do a bit of extreme weathering. The end result turned out better...

    Completed Critique Boudicca 75mm pegaso

Finally finished her off. Was an interesting project with some unique challanges for me. Thre were some issues fitting the components together after painting and I had to extend the cape to cover massive gaps on the left arm. Interestingly, the cover art on the box is shown post resculpting in...

    Tricked into shopping!

I have been in Sydney for a week with my wife. Compared to Perth there are lots of nice shops that ladies like to go in - clothes, shoes - you name it. Anyway, wifey suggested I go with her to the QV building as she had seen there was a toy soldier shop on the top floor. I diddn't believe, but...

    WIP Boudicca - Pegaso 75mm

I got this from my wife for christmas; she has more faith in my ability to paint this than I do. I'm not sure, but this may be an old figure for Pegaso now. There was ALOT of cleaning up of flash and mould lines to be done - big chunks of XS metal that needed to be dremeled off in awkward...

    WIP BSG - 'Starbuck' - 1/35th

Heres some detail of a small sci-fi diversion I'm working on. I have a 1/35th scale viper mk vii that I wanted to start. As is usual with sci-fi model kits the mouldings are not always the best. On this one I had to resculpt the legs to fit in the cockpit properly. The flight suit was a boggle...

Completed Critique Spartan Warrior 200mm ~ Pegaso

I have finished this bust (my first in this scale) to as good as I think I can get it. I'm happy with the end result, and the model was a joy to build and paint - well done Pegaso. The hardest parts to do were the checks and the white stitching - but with enough time I got there eventually. I...

WIP Spartan Warrior 200mm ~ Pegaso

Hi All Thanks for all who posted comments on the painting forum, they have been very helpful and a big boost to my painting knowledgebase. I'll post pics of my WiP and am happy for any suggestions along the way. I've always enjoyed painting reds and metals so this bust was an instant magnet...
