SS Squad Leader in 2 scales - Model Cellar

Congratulations Paul! You've always offered figures and busts that covered some of the more neglected areas of history (Russo-Japanese War for one example) and I have a few in my grey army as well as in my display cabinets. Here's to 30 more! Bob

Roman Centurion (Andrea Miniatures bust, scale 1:8)

Well done! I really like the way the helmet came out. I have this in my Grey Army and have taken it out many times over the years; begun the prepping, filling, filing and sanding; only to get frustrated or distracted and put it away again. Your pictures are making me think its time to have...

    Frank-Miniatures 1/10 German soldier in WW1

Beautiful painting of a great sculpt. You have captured the worn look without over doing anything at all. I appreciate the background info as well. It was another unknown aspect of the Great War for me too! R/ Bob

Alexander the Great - Alexandros Models

Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback and to Nap for the instructions on getting posted photos to remain upright! The tips and techniques that I have picked up from the many excellent painters on this site over the years has certainly helped me to improve my own work. Now if I could just...

Alexander the Great - Alexandros Models

Bust of Alexander the Great from Alexandros Models based on the famous mosaic found at Pompeii. After some debate I decided to make him fair-haired as described by Plutarch and other ancient sources (none of whom were contemporaries) although the aforementioned mosaic depicts him with dark hair...

    Greek one

A beautiful sculpt! I would add that not only does Legion Miniatures produce some marvelous pieces that are very nicely cast but they also provide excellent customer service. After I ordered a bust from them and it failed to show up they sent another. No quibbling and no additional charges...

    Paint Shaker

I can vouch for the fact that these work great. I bought mine from a guy in the US who refurbishes units formerly used in labs and sells them on Etsy and Ebay. Search for Typhoon Paint Mixers or look for KennedysArtSupply on Etsy. He has made and posted a UTube video as well. R/ Bob

    Some questions about purchase paints.

You might want to take a look at Garage Kits US Colors https://www.garagekitsuscolors.com// . I believe they are formulated by the same folks who made the Lifetone paints. They can be airbrushed or hand brushed and are acrylics. HTH Bob

    Occupations

Twenty six years in the Army - 12 as a tanker and, once I noted the lack of job postings for former tank company and battalion commanders, 14 in logistics. Currently working for a large IT integrator managing a portfolio supporting the Army and recycling my tax dollars.

    'Alas' By Brokentoad

Thanks for taking the time to recall and share your technique. I know that I rarely record what I am doing while painting. Like you, I just keep going until it looks good or until I give up and turn to stripping paint - a subject at which I excel! Then when I want to recreate the effect or...

    'Alas' By Brokentoad

Very good! You've rendered the female face and skin tone really well. Would you share how you accomplished the effect on the hair / wig? Its nice and subtle and much like something I am trying to accomplish on a figure I'm working on. THX Bob
