Hi all - latest piece just finished; Nuts Planet’s 1/9 bust of an American GI during the Vietnam War era in oils and acrylics. I added the jaunty moustache and the cigarette to a stock sculpt that was a dead ringer for actor Charlie Sheen in the movie, “Platoon”; wasn’t confident I could get the likeness in paint, hence the addition of the ‘stache:

Great job Brian. Did you free hand the helmet accessories?

Colin
Thanks Sir - most kind. The playing card, cigarette pack label and the label on the bug dope came as decals to be applied to the sculpted shapes, so I can’t take credit for that part of the painting. The decals settled down nicely with some Micro Set and Micro Sol; it was just a matter of blending them into the shapes with a little painting.

Cheers,
Brian

I would love to have a go but I don’t even know what the micros are. I’m not a kit builder. You would get a good laugh at my ten thumbs effort though.

I wouldn’t worry - the “Micro system”, judging by the smell, are really just 2 different concentrations of acetic acid (ie. vinegar) that soften the decal film/ink to allow the decal to conform to curves - not much of a challenge here since the card, ciggie pack and bottle side were pretty flat surfaces to start with.

Damn nice piece Brian, the face is awesome and the texture and details are brilliant. If there is a decal available it's good to go, I would definitely do the same, sometimes ghe easy option is the best option!
