8 parts
Sculpted & painted by Young B. Song

I received this bust late last week and wanted to do a review on it. Again, Young has brought us a beautifully sculpted figure, this one of a Soldier of the Waffen SS. The figure is comprised of 8 parts all cast in a light gray resin.

The main part of the bust, the chest, is solid one piece and I am glad to see Young get away from his multi-part chest with the shoulders and back being separate parts as we have seen with prior releases.

The underside shows the locator lug for the base plinth as well as 3 small mold plugs easily removed.

The head is well cast and sculpted with no visable seam lines.

The helmet is a separate piece which dry-fitted perfectly on the head (even with the mold plugs attached)

The 4 additional parts are the 2 piece ammo belt, a grenade and the knife handle.

Conclusion

Another beautiful kit from Young Miniatures keeping with his standard of sculpting and casting..

This would be a perfect piece to practice some SS camo on, especially as nicely as it is sculpted!!! I just noticed, does the kit not come with a cigarette?

Been there done that type of subject, but you can't argue with the quality of the sculpting and the attention to detail.~Gary

Well, despite the subject of WW2 Germans being done to death there are very few pieces which even come close to this standard. I dont buy many figures but I'm certainly going to get this one.
Thanks for the pictures Guy.

Looks very good sculpting but I have one remark. Germans wore their medals on the uniform but not on the camouflagejackets. So the iron cross-ribbon shouldn't be painted on it !

Thanks for the review Guy, really a great bust indeed. One question though, how easy is to bend the ammo belt around the figure? Needs some heating maybe??

The ammo belts are really pliable and when I test fit them they should be able to be fastened without too much trouble.

Patrick,
I think if you look closely it looks to me like the ribon is actualy on his shirt and not his jacket. It appears as if his jacket is open in the front revealing the shirt and ribbon, so you have a point about where they wore them, but I think this one is OK to paint as is. Good eye though!
