I bought this at Yeovil Model Show as the wife liked the look of him.

He is from Mr Lee's Minis, I gave him a cleanup, just a few pouring points to do.

After a wash and prime I started on the face with Artist's Oils, then making sure the hair was clear of any paint I used Citadel Reikland Flesh Shade to give him some ginger hair for a change, this will need another coat I think.

The wife wants his bonnet to be maroon so I can apply what I want for the rest but that will need to have to wait until tomorrow.

Cheers

Like what you did with the facial hair, Geoff - nice highlights on the beard.
Re. the decorations, it might be a good time to root out some of those old skool history textbooks...……Kings & Queens were always a favourite topic in those back in the 60s & 70s as I recall:)

Looks a nice no nonsense bust and a good face to paint

I like this one allready.

Many thanks Guys

Chris, the hair and beard is just a coat of Citadel wash over the white primer, it is like water and goes into the creases therefore leaving a darker colour in then and a thinner coat on the top leaving the highlight look.
I had a look on Google images and found this pic which is quite good likeness.

Nap, see above pic of John Donne which is quite a likeness he was a poet, priest and lawyer 1572-1631.
The beard is a first being ginger.

Marc and Ronaldo nice to have you aboard.

Progress today,

I had to repaint his right eye as I wasn't happy with it, then all the colours blocked in, the fur edging to the Top Coat was just a coat of Citadel Agrax Earth Wash. The Ruff around his neck I shall try to give the look of lace as per period, don't know if it will work but nothing tried, nothing gained.

I think he looks an older version of the painting, which I found on Google Images, of John Donne a Poet, Priest and Lawyer 1572-1631

Finished him, enjoyed it.

I think I managed to give a bit of a lace look to his Ruff, added the feather and gave the bonnet another coat then a dry-brush, Bling colour applied.

I just have to wait for my next bust to arrive now from Matt at ElGreco which I ordered today.

Thanks as always for your nice comments and likes.

Thanks mate,

That will be a surprise but he is a AWI chappie.

Just seen an e-mail from Matt and it has been posted, so I won't need to wait too long.
